First function held at new clubhouse

The new clubhouse hosted its first function on August 13, the evening of the Club Championship.

Music was provided by five-piece band Red Zephyrz who had the sell-out event rocking through the night - with a selection of music to suit all tastes - and dancing styles.

We look forward to more great events in our brand new facility.

Captains Newsletter - 5th July 2011

Dear Members,

Please find below an update on various matters at the club:

New Clubhouse

  • The construction of our new clubhouse is nearing completion. We are still on target for construction completion in July and, following a period of transition, to be operating from the new facility by the time of the Club Championship, which takes place on Saturday 13 August.
  • Full details of locker allocation will be published during the next 2 weeks.
  • An official opening is planned for Friday 30 September, followed by a social evening on Saturday 1 October, with Cliff Smith providing the entertainment.
  • A golfing day is planned for Sunday 27 August.

Full details of all these events will be published later.

Club News

  • I would like to inform Members that our Club Steward, Duncan McSporran, will be leaving the Club on 13 November 2011. On your behalf, I would like to thank Duncan for his loyal service to the Club over the last several years.  Not forgetting his wife, June, I wish them every success as they start a new phase of their lives in South Africa.
  • Despite the recent weather our course has been in excellent condition. Our thanks to Brian Boland and his staff for their excellent work.
  • The recent Ladies Day and Jimmy Taylor events were great successes.  My thanks to everyone involved for all the hard work in organising and running these events.
  • With regard to the various teams’ news, congratulations to the Juniors in winning their league, having won all of their matches. The Gents and Ladies are having a mixed season so far.
  • It has come to my attention that some players - be it visitors or members - are not repairing their pitch marks on the Greens. I would ask that we all take a few moments to carry out this simple task.  It is the responsibility of us all - not the greenstaff - to repair pitchmarks.
  • Congratulations to the winners of the recent Matchplay Competitions:
Gents Scratch: Ross Hinshelwood       Ladies Scratch: Moray Meechan
Gents Handicap: Frank Corrigan          Junior Scratch: David Cameron
  • With regard to the Equality Act we are still on target to hold an EGM later in the year to present our proposals.

Clubgolf

Coaching has begun and is very well attended. My thanks to all for carrying out this vital role.

In conclusion, may I offer my thanks to you all for your patience during the disruption caused by the building of our new clubhouse. I am sure that once we are in the new premises the pains of the construction phase will disappear.

I will continue to keep you informed.

Sponsors Wanted

Sponsorship is a proven way to increase the visibility of your company – and attract new customers and business leads.

East Kilbride Golf Club offers a variety of sponsorship options – from supporting high-profile competitions throughout the season to more straightforward advertising opportunities.

Our sponsors are vital to the everyday running of the Club, and, more importantly, its future. Their support assists special projects such as our Youth Development.  In partnership with Clubgolf, this allows our Junior boys and girls, along with children out with the Club, to gain professional golf coaching.

We are now in the process of putting together our sponsors for the coming season and there are a number of options available.

The Club Championship – our top sixty players compete over 36 holes medal play. This is the biggest day in our golfing calendar.

Open Day Competitions – we have various Open Days where we invite competitors out with the Club to play - such as the Senior Gents or Ladies and our very successful Tri-Am.

Saturday Competitions – most Saturday the club run a competition which attracts around 300 playing members.  These can be sponsored individually – or two companies could agree a joint sponsorship.

Medal Tee Sponsorship –Advertise your company on one of our medal tees. We will provide an advertising plaque of your company to be seen not only by our members but by our large numbers of visitors. These sponsorships ideally run for a minimum of three years.

Scorecards – We have 20,000 scorecards printed for each season and can accommodate full-page and half page adverts.

We encourage all sponsors to enjoy the course they are supporting. As part of the package all sponsors receive a complementary four- ball with full use our temporary Club House facilities. This can be booked one week in advance between 10.00am – 3.30pm Monday to Thursday- providing the tee has no other bookings.

Costs for these various sponsorship packages vary but full details can be had from Sponsorship Chairman Bill Porter. Call him on 07944 311729 or email bill@jamespaterson.co.uk
